With all the Ramen joints in Sydney, I must admit that I never got around to trying Makanai. I mean, why spoil a good thing, right? I already know that if I want a heavy tonkotsu broth I go to Gumshara, for Tsukemen I got to Zundo, and for a light broth I go to Ramen Ikkyu.
Well, there’s something to be said for convenience, and we tried the a sample of the Shio Ramen from Makanai. It was pretty good stock from what I tasted, but considering they were sold out of both Miso and Tonkotsu broth in peak hour lunch time, I can’t really make a call on how their ramen stacks up. Especially with stiff competition from both Manpuku and Hakata Maru in the area.
